The GBMA award 2021 for the best PhD Thesis in Theoretical and Applied Biomechanics has been awarded to Dr Alessandro Nitti for the Thesis entitled:

Development of a multiphysics solver for complex coupled problems involving thin shells: fluid-structure-electrophysiology interaction
PhD in Mechanical and Management Engineering at Politecnico di Bari (supervisor: Marco Donato de Tullio)

and ex aequo to Dr Marco Stefanati for the Thesis entitled:

Multiscale chemo-mechanical modeling of dystrophic skeletal muscle biomechanics
PhD Programme in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano (supervisor: José Felix Rodriguez Matas)

The Thesis works have been presented and awarded during the on-line meeting Giovani alla Ricerca - GBMA, GIMC e GMA si incontrano on-line held on 7-8 June 2021. The Commission wishes to highlight the great value of all the presented Theses and acknowledges the Italian scientific community for the wide participation.
